Webb et al and their book is typical of American educators. They show no interest in conflicting views and rarely quote research to justify their claims. No reference is made to pre-eminent sociologist and education scholar James Coleman. Only two paragraphs give lip service to textbooks when textbooks are demonstrably more than half of the recipe of American education. These teacher pontificators seem to have forgotten that Gutenberg invented the printing press and act as if they are still in medieval times when all teaching was orally transmitted.
THis book was sooo hard to get through I almost dropped the class, but after you get past the 1st part it's actually very interesting. Stay with it!
The book was in okay condition, some pages were loose. I received it in a timely fashion and the service was outstanding. I am always looks for affordable books that are in good condition for class and this purchase was no different. I will forever shop Amazon when I am in need of other purchases. This is a great book at a great price.
As expected
I purchased this book for a graduate course in education. Switching from a business major, I lack the basic foundation of the education industry. This book provides a great introduction to the basics of foundation including how the knowledge will help you in the certification process, applicable laws to know, philophies of education, and will lead you to a deeper understanding of INTASC standards. In addition to this it gives you a brief history of education in America.Note - this books DOES NOT include access to MyEducationLab. I found this book beneficial without this feature. However, you also DO NOT have access to the Insight feature which are videos that further clarify various points in the text. This information would be very beneficial and would have helped clarify a few questions I had.

It's a pretty good book for a textbook. Focuses on the historical data and analysis of how American Education came to be as it is today; from it's roots as small unorganized Quaker schools in the new world.
Great book and just what I needed for class. Provides basic information like important cases in the history of educational learning. It arrived in wonderful condition.
